The alarm difference
Spark's Play Store listing describes instant notifications for upcoming shifts, swaps, and union meetings - useful, but a standard notification, not an alarm. ShiftFlowr's wake-up alarm fires at full volume even if the phone is on silent or Do Not Disturb, with a full-screen alert showing the shift name and start time. It then works out when you need to leave from your commute and arrival buffer, and prompts you to wrap up before the shift ends.
Wake-up and leave-home alerts are alarm-grade on Android, not a standard notification that's easy to sleep through.
Wake up, get a prep lead to get ready, leave at the right time from home, then get a handover reminder about one hour before your shift ends.
Set commute minutes and an early-arrival buffer once. ShiftFlowr calculates leave time without collecting a home or work address.
Terminology and pay
ShiftFlowr reads your phone's timezone on-device (nothing uploaded) and shows the shift vocabulary your workplace actually uses - Early/Late/Nights in the UK, Swing/Graveyard in the US, Arvo/RDO in Australia, Stat Holiday in Canada. Spark's listing doesn't describe this. On pay, Spark's Overtime & PTO Tracker helps you audit hours against your paycheck - a real, useful feature - but its listing doesn't mention calculating tax. ShiftFlowr's salary calculator estimates take-home pay after UK Income Tax and National Insurance, plus night and weekend uplifts, on top of overtime tracking.
Where Spark is ahead
This isn't a point in ShiftFlowr's favour - it's worth saying plainly, the same way this site already does for feature parity elsewhere. Spark's own listing states it connects directly with Google Calendar and Apple Calendar, and lets you share your schedule with family so they know when you're on duty. ShiftFlowr currently syncs your shifts to your phone's built-in device calendar (which most calendar apps, including Google Calendar, can already show), but direct account-level Google Calendar and Outlook sync is still in development. If direct calendar-account sync and family sharing today are what you need most, Spark currently does more here.
